You've just been warned ……. Sleep Apnea Relevant information Everyone Should Know

Your doctor will just say that you have sleep apnea and need a CPAP machine when you sleep. The doctor has just explained that treatment with CPAP is the most common treatment for sleep apnea and wait for the call a medical equipment provider. The doctor has said that the equipment provider will instruct you in equipment and supplies … but what do you expect?

First, you need a good understanding of how the CPAP machine works. The respiratory therapist at Colonial Medical Supply will instruct on the location of all buttons and no duties. The therapist will help you determine the best location for the machine in the room. Your machine CPAP should never be placed above his head. Set machine on the head can cause injury to you and may damage the machine fell to the floor. All machines as CPAP ResMed S8 Series, Respironics Remstar M Series, and Fisher Paykel HC series have filters that need cleaning, replace, or both. The therapist will give you instructions on how clean the filters and when to replace them. Your doctor may have ordered a humidifier attached to the CPAP to prevent nasal dryness or congestion. The humidifier chamber water that has only requires regular cleaning and sometimes replaced. Distilled water is still recommended for use in a humidifier chamber. With distilled water will prevent that construction minerals inside the camera. You are offered a choice of either six or ten feet of pipe CPAP. Some patients require a greater length tube because the mattresses are longer than one night. It is NOT recommended to use a tube than twelve feet long, as there may be a decrease in CPAP pressure. If your doctor has ordered a specific mask, the therapist will explain the benefits and features of the mask. However, if you receive a variety of devices nasal respiratory clinician will explain the benefits and characteristics of many different style masks, as ResMed Swift LT, LT Swift it, Quattro, Mirage Ultra, Micro, Activa, freedom, Respironics Comfort Gel, Select Comfort, Optilife, Profile Lite, or Zest Fisher Paykel Opus 360, HC405, HC406, systems HC432 full face mask.
