Paintball, Take Out Your Daily Frustrations

How long does it take for the IRS to recognize a nonprofit organization?

Does anyone here know? see we're trying to have paintball club out here at the university recognized as a nonprofit organization, as a private foundation to be more precise, and almost everything is in abeyance until we have the answer. Members of my would like some idea as most of the benefits come from having a non-profit.

The process can take 18-24 months, in some cases. What many do not benefit is not originally join an existing non-profit until it reaches through the approval (as a church, school, etc.).
