Im buying a half-face respirator, what else do I need?

I wonder what we need to do the work it (Cartirdges or filters, or both?) To be honest, it is only for use area in airsoft skirmish (paintball alike) and most will be defending against the smoke. It is mainly for aesthetic effect. Thanks:) So only need the respirator and really anything else? I would not bother to put any filters on it. If it is so full of smoke in the area of airsoft you need a mask filter, which should not be there. You can not breathe very quickly through masks, so if you try to run sufficate with filters in place.
