Any suggestions for comfortable shoes and prevent blisters?

Hello, I just moved into my apartment in college at USC, and since I have a car that I'm walking much more than they do ordinarilly. My tennis shoes are very comfortable, but I hate having to use every day, especially because it look really silly with skirts and such. I was wondering if someone could suggest a brand or type of comfortable sandals and women. Many of my sandals are that the plastic that is rubbed after a while, and many of my other shoes cheaply made from Payless. I have horrible blisters after only 2 days! I do not mind splurging on shoes but I want to be sure it will be easy to walk around if I pay a lot. So any suggestion on brands, types of equipment, etc. would be greatly appreciated … Tell me about your shoes! Also, if you know of any cream for blisters, or sticky pads or something to keep the shoes I already have, would help too. THANKS!
