What combat simulating sport, best emulates a real life gun fight?

What I mean by a combat simulating sport, is a sport that is used to harmlessly mimick military situations. For example paintball, airsoft, laser tag etc. Which type of combat simulating sport best matches real fighting? Is there any kinds that law enforcement or the military use for training that I can legally play in my backyard?

For realism you can’t beat the Army’s war games. Of course you can’t go playing that in your back yard as the weaponry is real, just rigged with lasers to simulate shot trajectory and firing blanks.

Airsoft best mimics real world sizes of guns, but there is little to no recoil. paintball guns are significantly larger than their real world counterparts. Laser tag is unrealistic but almost perfectly safe (unless you trip or run into something) and can be played almost anywhere.

Depending on where you live and the size of your yard determines what you could play. If you live in a subdivision, Paintball is right out and Airsoft is iffy. But if you have a nice 5 acre wood in your backyard paintball would be my choice.
